The Shorthorn originated in northern England and In the nineteenth century breeders selected animals that were compact, solid and they matured & fattened at young age. This resulted in the Shorthorn breed of today.

Wynyard bulls are produced from the best Shorthorn genetics used over the unsurpassed performance of the exceptional Wynyard cow herd. Their broad-base genetics enables selection of highly fertile, easy to handle Sires that offer superior carcase traits and are adaptable for a variety of climates and conditions.

Wynyard regularly introduces new genetics to complement and improve our breeding program.  The top females are selected for our stud herd on structure, temperament and performance they must produce live calves every year.  Heifers are joined at 14 months of age then calve at 2 years of age.
